I am a Latin teacher and a dedicated lover of history, especially the history of the Greco-Roman world!  Before coming to Dallas to teach Latin, I was a Classical Archaeologist. I still love to travel, and I have been honored to work on projects in Italy, Greece, Jordan, Israel, and Turkey (including a year as a research fellow at the Research Center for Anatolian Civilizations).  Now, I am excited to be Latin at Parish Episcopal School in Dallas, TX! I love to bring Roman culture and history into my language classroom, using new technologies and approaches!

In 2014, I completed my doctorate at the University of Texas at Austin. From 2014 to 2015, I was a Visiting Professor in the Classics Department at the College of William and Mary. For the 2015-2016 school year, I worked as an adjunct in southern California. I taught the archaeology of Greek and Roman religion at University of Southern California, Greek and Roman Architecture at Mt. San Antonio College, and a range of humanities courses at Cal State Dominguez Hills, including Women in Antiquity and a self-designed course on Sports and Identity in Ancient Rome and Modern America. For the 2016-2017 school year, I was a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Classics at Trinity University in San Antonio, TX.

I came to Parish Episcopal School in Dallas, TX in 2017 and haven’t looked back! I currently teach Latin 2, Latin 3, Latin 4, and AP Latin for our Upper School students. We are developing a robust Latin program that integrates lots of culture, history, and comparative studies into our classroom. We also are active participants in JCL and have our own bi-monthly, student-led Latin Club.

In addition to my research on ancient Greece and Rome and Latin Teaching, I am very interested in eLearning, educational technologies in (and out of) the classroom, and digital humanities.  I strive to incorporate educational technologies in my own classes and continue to educate myself on new develops and methods.  I completed my Masters of Education, specializing in educational technology, through University of Arkansas, in 2017. I continue to work closely with our schools technology team to help with training when possible. Beyond my professional interests, I am an avid fan of playing soccer, singing karaoke, trying new food trucks, and spending time with my eccentric cat, Wanda.
